Food
Dalo Gukbap is a spicy pork broth with veggies, literally meaning "separate soup rice."  With such an elaborate name we can't be certain of the origin, but it probably was named after a tale of forbidden love that ended in tragedy.

The choice is yours: unify Guk and Bap, or keep them separate.

The soup includes veggies....

...pork...

....and volcanic rock.
Actually, that's dried cow's blood.  Its texture is soft like the boiled veggies and its flavor is bland.  On the plus side, it's full of healthy iron.

1st is the "special" dalo gukbap, 2nd is the normal, 3rd is with noodles instead of rice.

Atmosphere
Guk-il may be older than dirt, but the building is quite clean and modern.  Perhaps its popularity from 67 years of service, and from the official designation of "city treasure," has helped fund its upkeep.

The interior is deceptively large, with about 20 tables.  They seem to be quite busy, especially during the lunch breaks of nearby office workers.  Soju is not on the menu, although I saw some elderly fellows bring their own.

Location
Guk-il is located just off the Jungangno Intersection (중앙로 네거리), downtown.  It's on the side with the Daegu Bank, next to exit #3 of Primall, which is the underground mall, also known as Hell.

The Address is: 대구광역시 중구 전동 7-1
